Mantis World Joins Prince of Wales Mission for Sustainable Cotton – and then betters it

Washington D.C, October 2018

Justin Mundy, the Director of the Prince’s Charities’ International Sustainability Unit (ISU), announces that 36 brands and retailers have now signed up to the Sustainable Cotton Communiqué and so pledged that, by 2025, 100% of the cotton they use will come from sustainable sources. Mantis World, thus far the only representative of the Printwear industry, stands alongside some of the world’s most renowned brands and retailers including Burberry, H&M, Adidas, M&S, and Timberland in joining this commitment.

This announcement was made at the annual Textile Exchange Sustainability Conference in Washington DC, where over 500 textile and apparel leaders came together to discuss the most important sustainability issues facing the industry.

Statement from the BPMA – Dukes Global

Dukes Global Ltd, a long-established London based distributor, were placed into administration on Friday 1st September 2017 by Leonard & Curtis in London (AJ Duncan and AD Cadwallender). On Monday 4th September 2017 at 10:56am the company and assets were purchased by Bensussen Deutsch & Associates Ltd (BDA). The sale specifically excluded the shares held in subsidiaries, cash at bank and book debts.

Following the demise of Dukes Global Ltd, the BPMA has been working very hard to pull together the facts as well as to put urgent steps in place to try and support the affected suppliers.

David Tauber Passes Away

We are sad to hear of the passing away of David Tauber after a battle with cancer. Many will have known David from Totnoll Promotions, which he started in 1977 and then sold 20 years later.

David was fascinated with the Apple Mac in the mid 80’s and recognised its leading-edge capabilities.

Football drives merchandise fan mania

I was privileged to go and witness the merchandise operation of Glasgow-based promotional products supplier and bpma member, BIG in the UK, the exclusive on-site sales provider to the world’s biggest single-day sporting event, the UEFA Champions League Final. The 2016 final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, was held at the San Siro in Milan, Italy. The 80,000 crowd is provided with the best in terms of security, hospitality, experiential marketing and obviously official merchandising.
