BPMA and Sourcing City present the latest Industry figures and Import & Export report

On Thursday 17th June at 12:30, the BPMA’s CEO Carey Trevill and Sourcing City’s David Long will present a comprehensive view of the industry over the last year, the impact from the UK’s exit from the EU and how the industry is looking ahead.

The session, open to both BPMA and Sourcing City members, will provide a clearer picture of how the industry is shaping up for the UK’s reopening post lockdowns. Gaining shared insights into how clients have responded to the new rules, how companies have reacted and how the sector is viewing budget spend in the critical months to come.

Alongside the Import & Export Report, the latest Sourcing City Purple Club report will also be reviewed. Covering the ‘old world’ from January 2020 to April this year, the report considers the economic impact during the pandemic, how the industry is regrouping, and the confidence required to take positive steps forward.

BPMA in talks with HMRC and DIT

BPMA have been invited to attend critical meetings with HMRC, Department of International Trade and key Government stakeholders to further discussions held in April this year. After a successful meeting with the Minister for Exports, Graham Stuart MP and Andrew Lewer MP, representatives from the BPMA, Department of International Trade agreed to discuss the costly challenges faced by the promotional merchandise industry since the end of the Transition period. Undertaking the Import & Export Report in response to the request for further data, the BPMA are delighted Government are listening to the needs of this critical GDP contribution for the UK.

Collaboration with Government

Recognition of the financial burden faced by businesses has been central to the BPMA’s position to Government; solutions to provide funding, simplify processes, and further resource are under discussion during dedicated round table discussions with key Revenue stakeholders and Department of International Trade. Presenting the Import & Export Report as part of the findings to Government teams to support the trade position, the BPMA is committed to ensuring the industry voice is heard. With order levels set to increase in response to lockdown measures easing in the coming weeks, favourable trading conditions and meeting end-user expectations are more important than ever.

BPMA consults on further Free Trade Agreements

In addition to the current discussions regarding the EU, the BPMA has also been invited to contribute to additional consultations regarding trade agreements in India and trading with China. BPMA members will be receiving invitations to participate in the response over the coming week.
