BTC activewear Charity News
The month of April saw BTC activewear staff members doing their bit for Charity.
Firstly, our Credit Manager, John Gallivan took on his 22nd consecutive London Marathon on Sun 23 Apr to raise funds for the charity Childline. John said, ‘The truth is that ,like so many charities, the need for funds is still as important as the first one completed back in 1996.The more funds raised means that more children in distress can have their phone calls answered at the first call. It really is as simple as that.’
John received a lot of attention as he ran in his fancy dress suit and on a hot day, the cheers certainly helped keep his motivation to complete the 26 miles.
The total of his efforts reached nearly £3000 and over the 22 marathons has raised an amazing £87,000 for the charity.
Next was the Malvern Multicolour Fun Run, which took place at the ELIM Conference Centre on Sat 29 Apr. Ten of our colleagues signed up to run 6k around the hilly grounds for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, with the support of Fruit of the Loom who sponsored the entry fee and white t-shirts which got suitably covered in powder paint.
They not only hit their target of £500, they smashed through it and the total stands at £755.
Finally, our Business Development Manager for the Midlands and Wales, Jenna Bradley took part in the Birmingham 10K on Sun 30 Apr in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital; the total raised for the charity was £250.
Well done to all concerned!
As a business, one of our main charities is CLIC Sargent who are the UK’s leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families. The care teams fight tirelessly to limit the damage cancer causes. They listen, and ask the right questions, so that they can provide the right support, tailored to each young person and family. CLIC Sargent’s Stock Management Executive, Emilie Debbonaire said ‘The stock BTC activewear donates adds interest and attracts customers to our shops as well as raising a huge amount of money to help stop cancer destroying young lives.’
This is an amazing charity and we are so pleased to have helped raise over £30,000 since we began working with them in 2014.
